Northwest Wisconsin Healthcare Emergency Readiness Coalition and Vistelar, LLC Collaborate to Build Respectful and Safe Healthcare Environments

Menomonie, WI (January 26, 2021) – The Northwest Wisconsin Healthcare Emergency Readiness Coalition (NWWI HERC) today announced a strategic consulting and training partnership with Vistelar, LLC to help ensure its healthcare environments remain respectful and safe during COVID-19 times and beyond. This partnership establishes the Wisconsin-based Company as the main conflict management consulting and training vendor for NWWI HERC.

Prompted by the challenges of requiring that masks be worn at all times within any NWWI HERC facility, the team recognized its thousands of employees throughout 26 hospitals in 15 counties needed to be equipped with the conflict management and resolution tools to help build confidence and better prepare staff to deal with difficult situations.

“We had a very specific issue that needed to be addressed: how do our healthcare gatekeepers effectively deal with patients and visitors who refuse to wear a mask,” said Aimee Wollman Nesseth, coordinator of NWWI HERC. “After researching possible options, we landed on Vistelar because their content – and especially their customization of the content – allowed us to develop a program that fits exactly what we were looking for.”

Through its partnership with Vistelar, NWWI HERC received customized, sustainable conflict management training – including a content license for Vistelar’s Non-Escalation / De-Escalation / Crisis Management online component and a virtual training session for staff – to empower its employees to manage and resolve conflict in a safe and effective way. Additionally, Vistelar is committed to supporting all Wisconsin HERCs by offering a similar partnership to each region.

“Partnering with NWWI HERC has been an extraordinary experience,” said Dr. Ann Newman, chief executive officer of Vistelar. “Collaborating from the very beginning, we have developed and implemented a unique and truly customized experience to meet the needs of staff going through remarkable times. It has been an honor to work together and build capacity for treating people with dignity by showing respect.”
