What Our Reader's Are Saying - Testimonials
This book was eye-opening and will be a tremendous resource for anyone in the workforce. There is something for everyone, whether you are support staff or leadership. As someone who works in healthcare this book really resonated with me. The healthcare environment has become increasingly more violent, toxic and exhausting. The amount of healthcare professionals leaving their careers is staggering and nursing shortages are at a level that is increasingly unstable. This book not only brought to light some of the deeply rooted causes of workplace toxicity, but included actionable steps to correct it.
As a business leader, I have had extensive training in preventing and managing violence in the workplace. This book is a must
read for leaders, supervisors, managers, and anyone who is involved with employees. Jill's knowledge and expertise in this area shines through in clear and easy to understand concepts with practical solutions for any organization.
While it deals with a difficult subject, this book is a must-read for anyone who visits, works in, or leads in a space where lateral violence may occur—and that means it’s necessary for EVERYONE. The greatest lesson I’ve walked away with (and hope others do, as well) is that inaction in the presence of lateral violence is not an option. We all have a responsibility to eradicate it.
Jill writes in a way that both high school students and people with Dr. before their name will appreciate - Ending Lateral Violence: Creating Emotionally and Physically Safe Workplaces is an excellent and timely read with a clearly defined call to action.
Every workplace is comprised of people that intersect with both internal and external stakeholders. People are truly the strength of any organization, regardless of the profession. From management to operational employees, everyone has a stake in keeping a workplace healthy and productive while always competing with the personal and professional stressors that make us human. While those stressors sometimes make us rise to the occasion and bring out the best in us, they can sometimes inflame and generate animosity in the workplace. If not addressed and managed, they can lead to escalated consequences.
Jill’s pragmatic approach to Ending Lateral Violence in the workplace should be used as a guide to illicit introspection, reflection and hopefully generate those uncomfortable conversations that will lead to improving the emotional intelligence at all levels of any organization. The goal is to generate a healthy and productive work environment and we all have a responsibility regardless of position or title.
